ASSALAMMUALAIKUM~
Welcome and hello fellow readers, Shuhada here . So basically I'm the vice president of Group 1, Social Engagement students from Faculty of Science University of Malaya.
In our group, I am one of the members of logistic bureau, so we are in charge of a lot of things such as accommodation, food, transportation and etc... But despite the hectic timetable I am enjoying what I do now , although it's busy to being a logistic member ,haha.
So, this blog is to showcase my stories regarding this project The journey of going to the orphanage which is Baitus Sakinah at Kota Warisan, Sepang, will most likely be a memorable experience.
Where will we live, and what will we eat . How is the transportation ? and many things...

FIRST MEETING
22/02/18
Our first meeting was at the cube located in First Residential College (ASTAR), we choose this place for meeting because it is incovenience and most of our member groups is an Astarian.
So we was discussing among the bureau about the programme.

So, we as a logistic bureau find an orphanage that give us permission to organized a programme there. The orphanage was a Pertubuhan Kebajikan Baitus Sakinah Hidayah (PKBSH) located at Sepang . After trying to call a lot of an orphanage , I think it's almost 10 orphanage we already contact, only this orphanage have free time for us to conduct an activity at their places. Most of the orphanage we've been contact was have a lot of others commitment , some of them have their own programme, and some of the orphans have tuition on weekdays. Since we are all students and have classes on weekdays, we can't organized the programme during weekdays.

Back to our discussion, the 4 of our member, 1 from tech bureau , 1 from programme bureau and 2 from logistic bureau and that's include me decide to go to the orphanage on 24/02/18, Saturday morning, to meet the manager of PKBSH , Puan Wahida Binti Zakaria and also to find a homestay or a hotel and survey a place to conduct the activity.

In this meeting , after finish all of the discussion, all the logistic member make an introduction about PKBSH for the presentation tomorrow Friday (23/02/18).
Before I end , the programme decided to make it 3 days 2 nights for the programme in this meeting . We will organized the programme on 9,10 and 11th March.

Practice for a presentation to boost our confidence when presents in front of the Drs and students. We also discuss about money that we will had and things that we need to buy for our programme.

So after we finish presents our proposal, Dr. Norazilawati told us to change our programme's duration from 3 days to 2 days for lowering the cost, and also she was concern about providing the food , so we told her her don't worry about the food because we will meet the manager and negotiate with her.

Depart: 8.00am from UM
Arrived: 11am at the orphanage
So we are here at PKBSH , we went by a train and uber to arrived to this orphanage. It was very calm and soothing feeling to be here.

We met Pn. Wahida a.k.a. Kak Ida (she told us to call her by this name) , so we discuss with her what kind of programme will we organized, how is the flow of the programme will be, and all about programme Li Sim tell her since she is a programme bureau. Me and Siti negotiate about the catering with Kak Ida to get lower cost while Kah Yee took pictures of us and the condition of the PKBSH.

After lunch, we went to several hotel for booking , and we found one , it was not cheap but it was affordable at S8 Hotel Kota Warisan Sepang...

we cancelled it on 27/03/18 because Siti found a beautiful homestay which was near to the PKBSH and it was cheaper than the previous hotel. So, I cancelled the booking , Alhamdullillah the manager did not mad for it , fuhh..

Second Meeting
(02/03/18)
For this meeting , there are a theme song provide by Boon Ean for our programme . It called 'Learning Is Fun'. Most of the discussion was about how the programme will be , since it is the main thing we should discuss. The activities we should conduct and we choose who will be a facilitator for grouping and all that... So basically , we end up learning the theme song and make a video, watch it and enjoy!!~

We was practice singing our theme song, and discussed which movie will we show the children.
The First day
The first day we arrived to BaitusSakinah approximately at 9 am. We setup the place and Puteri was with me being an emcee of the informal occasion before began our program. Ustaz Miqdam also gave a speech which saying thanks to all of us for wishing to do a program with the children.

So we began with bonding time, we make a group of boy and a girl separately since the rules was been told by Puan Wahida to not put both gender in 1 group. Each group have 2 facilitator and there are 4 groups in total. We was playing a random games which entertain them.
​
After having lunch together with them. we show them a movie 'Inside Out' and when it's ended we asked questions related to the movie.
​
At night, the children do a performance like Nasyeed.

The Second Day
In the morning, we did an aerobic to warm up our day with the children at the playground nearby. We was having fun and the children was so sporting.
​
After having breakfast, it's station game time, so there are a lot of fun science game. The children was so active and sporting to play all the games. They was having fun too.
​
After lunch and Zohor prayer, we do a reflection ith the children , ask them what they think about the activity that they did, and which activity that they like the most.
​
At 6 pm , we ended with saying goodbye to all and appreciate with Puan Wahida and Ustaz Miqdam for giving us permission to holding a programme at BaitusSakinah.

REFLECTION...
My reflection on the program that we organized at the Baitus Sakinah Hidayah Association has given itself to self-awareness that there are a handful of disadvantaged communities, so we as a community must be in good relationships with each other regardless of race or background.
With that, we have organized a community-friendly program with asnaf children at the BaitusSakinah Society in Sepang by exposing them to interesting science-related activities. We are well aware that they are widely exposed to religious knowledge at school or in welfare homes. Therefore, with the knowledge we have, we want to share with asnaf children so that their minds are open to accepting the science that we exposed at that time. I believe that asnaf children PKBHS are very happy with our presence to spend some time with them.
Finally, I hope our group will be able to organize more exciting programs in the future to be able to further strengthen the community. I would also like to express my gratitude to the UM for providing this great subject to the students and to thank the lecturers who support this program.
